Folks...we have finally arrived. This is the LAST film in our Josh Hutcherson marathon! (Although - we will be talking about Josh's contributions to a Rtiz-Carlton promotional video/short film next - so you aren't totally done hearing from me yet!)
I began this project on January 26th, 2025, and am wrapping up on March 17th...so this ultimate binge-session lasted about 50 days. (For the most part, I watched and reviewed one project a day, but there were days I didn't do any (cause...life) and some days where I did a few.) It's been an incredible experience and I may need to share more on the whole journey in a separate post because I don't want to take away from Josh's most recent release, Long Gone Heroes.
Josh's latest project, released in 2024, is an action/war film about a US soldier who puts together an unlikely team in an effort to rescue his niece, a reporter, from her visit gone-wrong in Venezuela. Josh's character, David, may come across as the bad guy at first, considering we first meet him managing a strip club and having quite the potty mouth. However, as the film goes on, David really steps up to the plate. He proves he can be a good teammate as he helps the others with the rescue mission, shows genuine care of the niece and attempts to connect with others on a human level, and puts himself in danger to save others - even at the expense of getting shot himself.

While David seems like a Derek-from-The-Beekeeper-type-character at first, it was cool to witness some character development here, really giving Josh a chance to show us different sides to David. One of the most impressive scenes was when Josh was able to communicate so much with the audience with just a few looks. When he was compared to his father by his teammates in one scene, this triggers a nerve and his emotions and storm-off proves it. That moment really stuck with me and helped me step into David's shoes.
If you haven't caught Josh's newest movie (as of the time of this post) yet, you can find it available for streaming with a Paramount+ subscription. I opted to buy it on Amazon, so you should be able to purchase it from your favorite movie retailer as well. Enjoy!
Peace and Joshperity,
G
