#56: Josh in "Late Checkout: A Ritz-Carlton Story" - Short Film/Promo Video (2024)

My Josh family...we've made it. We've successfully watched all 56 of Josh's available projects, with this short film marking the final installment in our series (for now).

In fall of 2024, Josh teamed up with the Ritz-Carlton and Late Checkout, the Madrid-based fashion house, to showcase a pretty sick line of clothing. (I seriously regret not getting the blue jacket Josh wears in the short film at the time it was released!)

This partnership led to the release of a short film on YouTube entitled, Late Checkout: A Ritz-Carlton Story, with Josh as the lead (and as an executive producer!).

I've honestly dubbed this release as more of a short film/promo video since a clear goal of the project is to advertise the hotel and clothing line (nothing wrong with that but this isn't a traditional short film per say). In the four-minute short, Josh plays a member of the Ritz-Carlton hotel staff with a serious dedication to his guests.

As someone who worked at Disney for nearly ten years, including some deluxe Disney resort hotels, this video hit home! Additionally, since I have a marketing degree and this was so clearly an ad (albeit, an entertaining and fun one) I couldn't help but access it from that perspective as well as realized the project's likely objectives - highlight the luxurious and personalized experiences a family can have while staying at a Ritz-Carlton property, and show off the cool new Late Checkout clothing collection. Does this project feel like an ad? Again, yes, but I'll go ahead and agree with them that its earned the short film category title when it does have a story: a family's home floods and they seek a temporary home at a Rtiz-Carlton hotel, where they're welcomed by Josh's character and introduced to the brand's offerings AND the clothing.

Somehow, Josh helps these companies highlight what their brands offer while remaining charming as ever. This is a new kind of character for him - it's not often we see him play what appears to be a nonchalant yet extremely dedicated hotel manager or team member. While the clip was short, it does have a lot of scenes as Josh's character shows the family around the hotel and we watch them experience all kinds of Ritz-Carlton offerings like the pool and dining options.

As gimmicky as this was...I say bravo because Josh and the team made me want to go book suite 888 and waltz around the hotel in Late Checkout clothing. (A girl can dream, right?)
